Paalam Debate!
EVEN good things must come to an end. We saw the farewell episode of "Debate" last Thursday where the guests were only limited to three persons who have been "suki" of the controversial midnight show.: Atty. Rene Saguisag, former beauty title holder Melanie Marquez and the feisty Dr. Amanda Cruz.
What are we going to miss about "Debate" which ran for eight long years? The "warring" parties, the exchange of "heated" words and the appearances of Rep. Chiz Escudero who looked so cool, so learned and educated as he explained his side in Tagalog about different issues which the masses can easily understand. If he runs for the Senate, we will definitely vote for him.
We would also miss the personal opinions of Mare (Winnie Monsod) and Pare (Oscar Orbos) and their parting shots which somehow resolved issues presented and debated upon by the panel of guests.
Meanwhile, in the farewell episode, Atty. Saguisag chose to sing Auld Lang Syne as the camera was focused on some of the crying faces of the production staff of "Debate."
If and when "Debate" ressurects on Philippine television, please do us one favor: huwag naman sa hatinggabi ang airing. Hindi naman po ito Master Showman na "walang tulugan." As Melanie said, "Sana primetime na."
