Yes! magazine sat down with one of the country's hottest real-life sweethearts Angel Locsin and Oyo Sotto. The young couple shares how they found love and faith.
A Promise of Love

Angel Locsin met and got to know Oyo Boy Sotto through her boyfriend, Miko Sotto.
Angel, now 21, was Miko's girlfriend for six months, up until the day Miko accidentally fell to his death from his ninth-floor condominium in Mandaluyong City on December 29, 2003, at the age of 21.
For more than a year after Miko's untimely death, Angel and Oyo found comfort in each other's company. Taking care of each other, they felt, was the least they could do for Miko, or in memory of Miko.
But one magical evening, the world turned upside down for Oyo and Angel. The two, who were brought together by their shared love for Miko and who, at first, treated each other like brother and sister, found themselves falling in love.
Neither Oyo nor Angel can remember if there ever was a courtship stage. The two of them had starred together in the 2004 film Kuya, a teen drama from Regal Films, so they were already close when Miko was still alive.
They spent the afternoon of February 12 together, eating at McDonald's and scouring Greenhills for DVDs.
At dawn of February 13, Oyo, his confusion over, told Angel for the first time: I love you."
Somehow, things fell into place. But Oyo and Angel realized they had a problem. They needed to inform Tito Maru and Tita Ali, Miko's parents, about the new developments.
Within a magical week, Angel and Oyo decided that they also had to tell Miko everything – together.
OYO: "Pumunta kami kay Miko. Magka-holding-hands pa kami. 'Eto, Miko,' sabi ko. ''Tol, thank you, eto na si Angel, aalagaan ko para sa'yo."
ANGEL: "Nag-thank-you kami. Umiiyak ako noon."
The Angel and Oyo relationship, however, did not sit well with the entertainment press at the start. There was a feast of negative comments, speculations and assumptions.
ANGEL: "Noong una, ang sagot lang naming lagi, 'Masaya kami pag magkasama kami.' Ayaw din naman naming i-deny, kasi hindi kami ganoon, e. pero hindi din kami umaamin. Ang hirap kasi mag-explain kung bigla naming gugulatin 'yong mga tao. Maghihintay kami ng tamang oras. 'Tapos, ayan na, ang dami nang tsismis sa akin, na magpinsan tinuhog ko. Siyempre, masakit sa akin 'yon."
The nasty talk eventually quieted down. Recently, it has been resurrected in a new form, but the couple has learned to deal with it with nonchalance.
Angel and Oyo's romance is in its early stages, and no wedding plans are being made. The two are aware that there is yet much to do, explore, and achieve on their own.
OYO: "Time will tell lang talaga, pero as of now, hindi naming napag-uusapan talaga 'yong about marriage, wedding. Wala talaga.
Thanks to his older sister, Danica, Oyo has become active in the Victory Christian Fellowship. In turn Oyo has encouraged Angel, a Roman Catholic, to embrace his faith.
These days, the young couple, without being preachy about it, tries to lead a Christian life.
