Philippine Idol Fourth Night (Part III)
... The results are postponed once again!
Sunday's results night opened with a big to do as idol finalists Jeli, Apple, Mau, Pow, Arms, Miguel, Ken, Jan and Gian sang a production number of "Mangarap Ka." And it was no surprise that guest judge Wency Cornejo came out onstage to finish the hit song he wrote with the rest of our finalists.
We see a brief review of the previous night's band hits performances of our idol contestants. Gian sang "Pare Ko" by the Eraserheads. Apple did her take on Kitchie Nadal's hit song "Huwag na Huwag Mong Sasabihin." Miguel Mendoza sang "Harana" of Parokya ni Edgar while Jan Nieto sang "Tuloy Pa Rin" by the Neocolors. Jeli Mateo sang "Paglisan" of Color It Red while Mau Marcelo sang "So Slow" by the Freestyle band. Ken Dingle sang "Ligaya" by the Eraserheads and Arms Cruz sang Sugarfree's "Makita Kang Muli." Pow Chavez sang Side A's "Forevermore."
Ryan Agoncillo then made the announcement that due to some technical glitches the were experienced with the text voting on Sun and Smart communications wherein the voting fans were not getting any confirmation messages on their votes, ABC 5 executives once again has decided that no one will be voted off this evening in the spirit of fair play. So our tense and nervous nine finalists get a one week reprieve from being out of the competition. Ryan continued that next week, two finalists will again be voted out so idol voting fans should make sure to vote for their favorite idol contestants.
Our three judges are now asked to give their choice on who they'd like to see do a reprise of their performance from yesterday evening. Wency picks Arms Cruz who willingly reprises her performance of makitang Kang Muli by Sugarfree. As the camera shows our judges, we see recently oustered Drae Ybanez among the audience. Talks have been going around about the closeness of Arms and Drae but they have simply bonded as friends because of the competition.
Mamita's choice to perform again tonight is no less than Mau Marcelo and she is quite happy that Mau did away with her drab overcoat of the previous evening. Mau gives us her version of Freestyle's hit "So Slow."
The postponed vote off for the evening is not the only surprise for this Sunday's results show as Ryan Agoncillo announces that come next week, Performance night will be aired on Sunday night and the Results night will be on a Monday.
Mr. C chooses Gian Magdangal to sing again but tells him to either do away with his theatricalities or just sing the song as simply as he can. He also reminded Gian that the competition is for a singing pop idol. Gian proved that he was an apt listener and a good student by doing a better performance of his version of Eraserheads' "Pare Ko" from the previous evening. The crowd is in agreement with Mr. C who can be seen clapping over his head as Gian ended his reprised performance.
