Goodbye, Davey! (Part II)

A Christmas-themed gala night is already special in itself, and since their performances were requested directly by their loved ones, that made it all the more special. But an important thing to keep in mind is that only text votes determined the winner, meaning their fate lay solely in the people's hands. And the people have spoken – Davey, the crooner from Baguio, returns home as the eleventh scholar to leave the Academy.

He was the first of the probees to perform, delivered his original composition 'Spending My Life With You' beautifully, which he dedicated to his girlfriend for the second time. It was all very sweet, and Judge Claire De La Fuente even commented: "I fell in love with your song and your singing." This wasn't enough for the texters, however, garnering 12. 37% text votes.

Rosita followed with a powerful performance of 'Basang-basa sa Ulan', and once again she brought the house down with her vocal prowess. Rey Valera gave perhaps the bet compliment a scholar has received: "Matagal na rin bago nagkaroon ng superstar sa masa." And, as expected, they came to her aid.

Yeng delivered her rendition of 'I Will Survive', fitting her probationary circumstance perfectly. Judge Hajji Alejandro gave her a glimmer of hope: "Great performance… sung like a pro." And the pro did survive, when she was announced as the first person being saved.

"Ako natetense, pero parang hindi ka nate-tense… I like your performance." This is what Judge Agot Isidro had to say to Ronnie, who went last with a Josh Groban favorite, 'You Raise Me Up'. Given the fact that this scholar has always been noted for his nervousness, the Judge's comment was more than a sigh of relief for the balladeer from Pampanga.

There were also a few surprises. The winners of the Christmas song contest was announced, and Yeng's 'Pasko Sa Pinas' got top dollar with 39% of the text votes. She now has the privilege of requesting a Christmas gift of her choice for a certain someone. It was also announced that the first edition of the Pinoy Dream Academy album has gone gold, selling at least 50,000 copies.
