Tenth Gala Night Presentation (Part VIII)

Tonight was not an expulsion night, but it wasn't an excuse for the scholars to not have an incredible performance, since those who escape tonight's nominations will secure a place either in the Final Six, or the Headmaster's List ( the top 10). It was a night honoring Pinoy rock and its evolution through three decades. True enough, the PDA 10th Probation Night opened with a bang, as Bamboo, one of the premier local bands, rocked the house with the 11 remaining scholars.

Joan's perfect record in the Academy came to an end, as she was nominated with a 7.4 score. Judge Jimmy Antiporda reasoned: "Gusto ko pa makakita ng confidence sa yo, pero I'm sure you'll do better next week." She sang the classic pinoy rock tune 'Nosi Balasi', and Judge Jimmy also mentioned a little inconsistency in her singing, and this turned out to be crucial for this songbird from Italy.

Jay-R performed the The Dawn classic 'Salamat, while Davey did a song which came almost a decade earlier, with Spongecola's 'Jeepney'. This turned out to be not in the Judges' liking, as Jay-R and Davey were the next to be put on the probationary list, garnering scores of 6.56 and 6.9, respectively. Judge Louie Ocampo repeated his earlier comment as a reason, citing that Davey's guitar playing was controlling him instead of the other way around, and Jay-R's high notes were too high for comfort.

Irish got a score of 6.13, rounding out the list of probationary scholars. Judge Cookie Chua told her not to see this as a setback, saying: "May next week pa naman… kelangang magkaroon ka pa ng personal relationship with the song." Irish, along with Jay-R and Davey, garnered grades lant gala night that should've given them a nomination.

There was a couple of bright spots, however; Panky was named the star scholar, who scored a 9 after her stellar performance, while Rosita dodged her fifth nomination tonight. This made all her former nominations null and void, and as a result is very much clean for the final stretch of the competition.
