Tenth Expulsion Night (Part IV)

The number 10 plays a big part for the scholars. One, because it's the tenth overall expulsion night. Two, Saturday's gala will determine the Headmaster's List, the top 10 remaining students in the Academy. It was the number 10 that spelled doom for Joan, as she got edged out by Davey by one point, 5 to 4; expelling this Italian songstress from the Academy.

The scholars gave us a dose of Holiday cheer with their Christmas-themed songs. Davey put aside his insecurities and performed with his guitar; he even got some help from Panky and Yvan, who provided percussions. Although it with a good performance, Judge Wyngard told him nonetheless: "hindi bagay sayo ang song mo."

Irish went next, singing 'O Holy Night'. Judge Louie Ocampo found the song as 'sexy' and didn't sit well with him personally. But as a judge, he gave Irish credit on her version of the traditional Christmas song. The teachers gave her credit as well, including her in the Headmaster's List.

Jay-R followed and put the audience in a nostalgic mood with his serene performance of 'the classic 'Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas. Judge Kitchy responded ecstatically, saying: "Natutuwa ako sa performance mo Jay-R… you owned that song." She also noted that she liked the voice progression, which meant he put a lot of thought into this performance. And there's no thinking involved with what happened next; 44.98% text votes ensured him a spot at the Academy.

Joan, fresh from her illness, rounded out the last of the probationary scholars with 'Silent Night'. She received a warm welcome back to health from Judge Leah Navarro, and complimented her: "Your choice of emotional delivery was just right." It wasn't enough, however.
