Christmas Party Bonanza
Christmas time is synonymous to parties. These parties are for thanksgiving for a year that was, and as a celebration for the coming new year. At Le Spa Massage and Le Spa Gym, this year’s Christmas Party was done last December 23, 2005. It was a party to remember for the years to come!
Everyone was an eager participant to the program. There were three events being contested in the said party: the Star of the Night, the Best in Festival Presentation and the Best in Caroling.
The Star of the Night is a competition where all members of the staff will don a costume that comes from indigenous materials. As can be seen from the pictures below, my staff produced some of the best costume I ever saw in my life that comes from materials we never thought possible to be still used. One of them used grocery bags from a local supermarket and made it into a skimpy outfit. Another used coconut leaves and other coconut products for her costume. Still another one made use of old newspapers and recycled it into a costume that resembled a Christmas tree.
The Best in Festival Presentation is a group undertaking that showcased a Philippine Festival, complete with the needed music and costume. The first group reenacted what appeared to be a Sinulog of Cebu. The second group, which by the way won the competition, took the Higantes Festival into another level with its own imagination—the Big Little Higantes Festival. The third group utilized the ever-reliable sako (or sack), and made a dance presentation out of it.
The Best in Caroling contest highlights the singing voice of the same groups as they sang Christmas carols. The second group composed of Racquel, Mikay, Grace and Adonis again bagged the top prize of cash and fabulous prizes.
The party was not complete without food and drinks. Everyone filled their stomachs with spaghetti, kilawin and chopseuy courtesy of Monding’s Carenderia, grilled fish and pusit, pork steak with sabang saging, and many more. Invited guests also indulged their appetite with the sumptuous dessert: mango float.
As with any other year-end celebration, the party continued with fun and games, more talent presentations and award-giving ceremonies honoring the best and the brightest the staff and crew that contributed in the success of Le Spa Massage and Le Spa Gym.

I seem to become a regular commentator. When it comes to parties, Filipino is the best. They know very well how to enjoy themselves and make others happy. One of my dreams is to experience a "real" Christmas in the Philippines. Thais are also excellent but they are the second. When I worked in Bangkok, I was surprised that the parties were well organized. They practiced dances and songs every day before the Christmas Party. I was also surprised to know that Christmas Party was very popular in the Buddhism dominated country. So long as they have fun, it seems to be O.K. Well, when it comes to a party, I think Japan is the worst place. They just drink alcoholic drink in a bar or restaurant until midnight or even morning. Sometimes sexual harassment is accompanied. Office parties and outings were the last things I wanted to join when I was employed in Japan.
