The Angels at Shepherds Arms Orphanage

December 23, 2005 was a very eventful day for my family, my employees at my business organization, Le Spa Massage, Le Spa Gym and The Courtyard, and also for myself. In the morning we had our first ever outreach program, and in the evening, we had our annual Christmas Party. But for this blog posting, let me focus on our outreach program. I will be sharing with you my experiences with our Christmas Party later.

We had our outreach program at the Shepherds Arms Orphanage in Dao, Dauis, Bohol. There were 17 orphans with different stories to tell--some are tragic, the others just plain sad. But I would have to say that even for one morning, we were able to make their day happy. It is our goal to give them a Christmas worth remembering, as our way of sharing God's blessings to us.

Jollibee was our guest star, as this mascot is the most sought-after in the world of children. He danced and gave away prizes. We also got our food from Jollibee (the fast food chain), which consists of burger steaks, peach mango pie, rice and drinks. I bet the children enjoyed the food, the presents and the prizes that we have prepared.

For me, the experience was gratifying for the spirit. And I bet it was also the same feeling that my staff and my family felt. Making a child smile, despite the sadness in their lives, and even for a short time feels good. What a good way to pay it forward for a very successful year for my business!
