Developments Along Archbishop Reyes: Banilad Town Center

The stretch from Ayala Center Cebu going to the University of San Carlos (USC)-Talamban in Cebu City is becoming a hub for an assortment of businesses sprouting like mushrooms. It seemed like yesterday when this stretch was only accentuated by the Grand Convention Center near the Ayala Center Cebu end, and the Gaisano Country Mall on the other end near the USC-Talamban.

But now, after two years of staying in Bohol, a lot of progress has been made to this area, which amazes me so much at how fast developments can be made. Beside the Grand Convention Center is an arcade-type mini-mall featuring some hippie food joints and business establishments. Immediately fronting Ayala Center Cebu is the on-going construction of a world-class hotel. A little bit farther going to USC-Talamban from Ayala Center Cebu is the Crossroads in Banilad. Fronting Gaisano Country Mall is the new University of Cebu (UC) building where the ground floor area is utilized as leased spaces for various food and business joints. Beside the UC building is another mini-mall development.

The Banilad Town Center (BTC), located a few blocks from the University of Cebu building going to USC-Talamban is another landmark development in this area. It houses some of the Philippines and Cebu’s homegrown top businesses like Yellow Cab Pizza, Go Nuts Donuts, Gloria Jeans Coffee and others including an Apple store. Its supermarket is handled by Robinsons.
